Ukrainian Community Day
There will be live music, singing & dancing workshops, Ukrainian food & craft vendors. Sasha Botanica will lead a nature walk, discussing Ukrainian folk medicines and teach how to make a simple vinok (Ukrainian flower crown) with wild flowers & plant dyed ribbon.
Herbal Soapmaking Workshop
Sasha Botanica, in collaboration with Sister Divine’s Farm, will teach us the art of herbal soap-making. Picture this: a cozy fire on an autumnal evening, lounge area to sip on homemade herbal tea with neighbors, and of course, everyone leaves with a bar of herbal soap!

Our intention with these workshops is to teach participants how to utilize the plants we will be focusing on, creatively and medicinally. A vast majority of plants will produce beautiful ranges of color as well as having medicinal benefits that enhance physical and mental well being. Forage & Plant Dye Workshop - Mugwort
First in our summer series is the infamous mugwort! You will generally find mugwort taking up all the space on roadsides and uncultivated places. In this workshop, we will learn how to identify, forage and utilize it! We will also talk about ethical foraging practices, the invasive status of mugwort and the benefits of utilizing it as medicine. Although this plant can be a nuisance, it holds a very special place in many cultures.
Join us as we create a communal dye bath with mugwort we will be foraging on site while also crafting a smudge bundle for stimulating dreams.
Forage & Plant Dye Workshop - Nettle
Open to all skill levels! Learn how to forage, dye and create medicine with Nettle! We will talk about identification, ethical foraging, how to create a dye bath with Nettle and discuss its medicinal aspects.
In this workshop we will forage Nettle together as a group. While the dye pot is bubbling away, we will all make a batch of Mineral Rich Syrup with Nettle we foraged. You will go home with your own 4oz bottle of the syrup. We will also have an infusion of Nettle tea for you to try and Sasha will create some sort of baked good using Nettle.

Dan de Lion will lead a foraging exploration, showing how to identify spring wild foods & medicines. During the plant walk we will gather material for creating a springtime hydrosol. Both Sasha & Dan will share insights into the process of distillation and how the alchemical perspective shows each process as a reflection of the souls journey.

Learn how to forage, dye and create medicine with Japanese Knotweed! We will talk about identification, ethical foraging, how to create a dye bath with Japanese Knotweed and discuss its medicinal aspects. In this workshop we will also talk about making floral honey and you will go home with your own jar of Lilac honey.
Herbal Soap Making Workshop
Learn the art of making customized herbal soaps with local herbalist, Sasha Botanica at Valley Spirit Wellness Center in Beacon NY. This hands-on class includes the basics of soap making and teaches how to add various herbal powders and oils to create one-of-a-kind soap bars. Attendees also get to take home a bar of their choice:

Join me and Jackie of @liminal_textiles at Crescent Farm @crescenthv in Gardiner NY, September 17th from 11am-1pm to learn how about foraging & dyeing with Goldenrod! We will talk about identification, ethical foraging practices and where to find it growing. We will gather goldenrod as a group and create a dye bath. We will also discuss how to change colors of goldenrod with iron (the yellow turns a gorgeous green!)

The Sacred Bath: Slavic Folklore & Mythology for Spring
Join Daughters of Baba Yaga Sasha + Masha for an exploration of Slavic Rites of Spring focusing on water rituals. We will tell tales of the Spirits of the Bathhouse (Bannick) and Water Spirits (Rusalka), craft our own floral bath blend and receive a magical herbal soap handmade by Sasha.
The Sacred Bath is the first of a series of workshops we are calling ‘Daughters of Baba Yaga’ exploring Slavic folklore, mythology, and fairy tales.

Weaving with Nature
Sasha and Dan de Lion are co-teaching Weaving with Nature on March 25th in Wantage NJ.
In this class we will explore the magical world of natural fibers - how to work with different plants and combine them into both art for the cottage industry & functional items for survival skills. Learn the basics of weaving, spinning wool into yarn, plant fiber cordage & drop spindling, vine & splint processing, basketry basics and plant identification.
Everyone will go home with their own project they choose to explore, using mixed materials. All ages welcome, no previous experience necessary!

Plant Dyed Velvet Ribbon Workshop
Be an elf with me and @liminal_textiles for our Plant Dyed Velvet Ribbon Workshop, Sunday December 4th from 1-2:30pm in Wallkill NY.
We will teach you how to dye velvet ribbons with Madder Root and Black Walnut. Each person will go home with 2 yards of 2” velvet ribbon and the basic knowledge how to create your own successful plant dye baths.
This class caps at 4 people, but if you feel like joining for knowledge-sake and do not care about going home with ribbon, you are still welcome to join.
Come be cozy, learn something new, we will feed you cookies & tea…and cover you with blankets…by the wood stove in the living room…so….just come over :)
